DILLMAN was born in Muhlenburg [sic] County, Ky., January 24, 1863, and is a son of Henry C. and Elizabeth (Coombs) Dillman. His father held several important positions, among others, Collector of Internal Revenue. His father, David Dillman (grandfather of subject), represented Muhlenburg County in the Legislature one term, and was also Collector of Internal Revenue. James H., the subject, still remains at home with his father, and manages the farm, while his father is United States Mail Agent. James was married December 2, 1883, to Miss Ophelia Hanbery, the oldest daughter of John W. and Eliza Hanbery.
