Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., 1887, Carroll Co. THOMAS C. HAYDEN, a native of Carroll County, Ky., was born March 15, 1830, the youngest of five sons born to Bland and Martha (Dean) Hayden, the latter a native of Pennsylvania. Thomas C. Hayden was reared on a farm in Carroll County, and in September, 1862, he volunteered in the Fourth Kentucky Regiment under Col. Giltner, he took part in all the battles fought by this regiment until the close of the war, when he returned home, and engaged in farming.
