Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., 1887, Campbell Co. T. ELWOOD LIVEZEY, a native of Cincinnati, was born August 21, 1844, and is a son of Isaac and Elizabeth Shallcross, natives of Philadelphia. Isaac Livezey, a son of Isaac Livezey, Sr., was born in 1815, and settled in Covington in 1860, removing from Cincinnati at that time; he was president of the Covington & Newport Bridge Company for nearly fifteen years, and was engaged in saw milling from 1852 until his death, which occurred December 26, 1886. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and was the father of two children: Mrs. J. L. Hopkins, of Nebraska, and our subject. The latter has been engaged in saw milling business since twenty-one years of age, and does business from Boston to Colorado amounting to $250,000 worth annually. In July, 1862, he volunteered in the Eleventh Kentucky Cavalry under Col. William E. Riley, served three years, and took part in the battles of Atlanta and Chickamauga and also the siege of Knoxville. At the close of his service in the war he returned to Kentucky, and engaged in the saw-milling business in Newport. In 1866 he married Miss Emma L. Byers, of Covington, daughter of Capt. Andrew Byers, and one child has been born to this union--May. Mr. Livezey is a member of the Masonic fraternity, and is a Republican in politics.
