Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, ed. 8-B, Boyd County Rev. Christian M. Sullivan (deceased) was born in Mason County, Ky., December 18, 1825, a son of Austin and Catherine (Hiles) Sullivan, probably natives of the same county. Christian M. Sullivan, a preacher in the Methodist Episcopal Church South, resided near Dover, had a charge at Sardis, Mason County, and in 1840 removed to Lawrence County, where he was a presiding elder; thence he removed to West Virginia, was presiding elder of the Guyandotte district for years; thence he removed to Parkersburg, W. Va., preached two years and was presiding elder four years, and after another period of four years in Lawrence County, Ky., preached for two years in the Louisburg district. He died in Ashland, Boyd County, Ky., in 1864. He was married July 4, 1850, to Miss Chattin C. Moore, a native of Lawrence County, Ky., and daughter of Frederick Moore, a merchant who came from Philadelphia, and who died in 1873, at the age of ninety-six years. Of the children born to Mr. Sullivan, four are living; William, Henry, Mrs. J.W. Shannon, of Louisa, Lawrence County, Ky., and Mrs. T.C. Songer, of Birmingham, Ala. Mrs. C.C.
