ROUSE, a miller of Walton, Ky., was born in Pendleton County, Ky., November 3, 1850, and was the eighth of a family of thirteen children born to Michael J. and Amanda (Daniel) Rouse. He had two children by his first wife, Susan Pitcher. Michael J. Rouse was a farmer and miller. Walter R. Rouse was reared on the farm, received a common-school education at Aspen Grove School in Pendleton County. He and brother, A. M. Rouse, own a large flour, grist and saw mill at Walton. February 3, 1876, he married Miss Jane Shaw, daughter of Robert and Keturah (Thompson) Shaw. Three children have blessed this union, viz: Walter L., Mary B. and Mattie F. Mr. and Mrs. Shaw are members of the Baptist Church. Mr. Shaw is a member of the Free-masons. Politically he is a Democrat.
