Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., 1887, Boone Co. JOEL B. FRAIZER was born in Harrison County, Ky., December 14, 1807. He is the seventh of a family of ten children born to Joel and Margaret (Miller) Fraizer. Joel Fraizer, Sr., was born in Pennsylvania; he came to Kentucky, and settled in Harrison County at a very early date, where he lived and died. His wife, Margaret Miller, was born in Virginia, and came to Kentucky at an early date and settled in Harrison County. Joel Fraizer, Sr., was a farmer, and for several years was one of the county officials of Harrison County. Joel B. Fraizer was brought up on the farm, and received a common-school education. He lived in Harrison County until 1839, when he moved to Boone County, and purchased land and settled where he now resides. He owns 331 acres of land, all well improved. On December 15, 1836, he was married to America Snodgrass, a daughter of Thomas and Catherine (Simmons) Snodgrass, of Harrison County, but originally from Pennsylvania and Virginia. To this union have been born nine children--seven daughters and two sons--Mary K., Margaret A., Bell H., Laura, James L., Emma D., Thomas J., Ada and Lizzie. Laura, Thomas J., Ada, Lizzie and Emma D. are dead. Mr. and Mrs. Fraizer have been members of the Presbyterian Church for more than forty years. Politically Mr. Fraizer is a Democrat.
