Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., 1887, Boone Co. DR. ROBERT L. FINNELL was born in Verona, Boone Co., Ky., January 2, 1845, and is the second of a family of four children born to Vardiman and Nancy (Sleet) Finnell. Vardiman, a farmer, was born in Kentucky, March 21, 1812, and his wife was born October 2, 1823. The latter died October 2, 1882. Robert L. Finnell was reared on a farm, and received a collegiate education, studied medicine under Dr. M. M. Butler, of Tennessee, in 1869-71 he attended lectures at the Ohio Medical College, at Cincinnati. He graduated in the spring of 1872, and settled in Union, Boone County, from there he went to Verona, where he now has a large practice. He also owns 230 acres of well improved land. September 11, 1877, he married Miss Anna Baker, a daughter of John and Eliza Ann (Hagish) Baker, natives of Boone County, Ky., and Virginia, respectively. They have one child, Charles Samuel. Mr. Finnell is a member of the F. & A. M.; politically he is a Democrat. Mrs. Finnell is a member of the Baptist Church.
