Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., Boone Co. DR. R. A. EDWARDS, of Walton, Ky., was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, January 25, 1819, and is the fourth of a family of five children born to Dr. Samuel and Jennie (Faulkner) Edwards. Dr. R. A. Edwards was reared in Edinburgh, and received a collegiate education. He began the study of medicine under his father, Samuel Edwards, and attended his first lectures at the University at Edinburgh in 1837, and graduated in 1837. He came to this country in 1839, and settled at Williamstown, Ky., where be began the practice of Medicine in 1840, but practiced only a short time; thence he removed to Crittenden, Ky., and practiced there six years, and in 1848 he moved to Walton, where he has practiced ever since. He owns several houses and lots in Walton, and is very comfortably situated. He married Miss Charlotte Secretts, April 22, 1840, (daughter of Charles Secretts), and to this union seven children have been born, five of whom are living, viz: Jennie, Lycurgus, Addie, Robert and Adolphus. OUr subject and wife are consistent members of the Baptist Church, and our subject is a member of the I. O. O. F. and K. of P. Politically he is a Democrat.
