Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., Boone Co. DANIEL M. BAGBY was born in Kenton County, Ky., October 17, 1841, and is the fourth of a family of nine children born to Y. S. and Elizabeth (Roberts) Bagby, natives of Kentucky. Y. S. Bagby was a farmer. Daniel M. Bagby was reared on a farm, received a common-school education, and began the study of medicine, in 1864-65-66 he attended lectures at the Cincinnati, Ohio, Medical School. March 1, 1866, he graduated, and settled at Big Boone Springs, Boone County., Ky., where he began his practice of medicine, remaining four years; he then moved to Walton, where he is now practicing. He owns a farm of fifty acres and also a house and lot in Walton. October 22, 1868, he married Miss Julia F. O'Neal, a daughter of George and Sarah (Sleet) O'Neal. Four children have been born to this union: Clarence, William, Samuel Earnest and Mabel. August 1, 1861, Mr. Bagby joined the army, serving only one year under Col. Roger Hanson, in Company K, Second Kentucky Juvenile Volunteers. On account of a wound received at Camp Morton, Indianapolis, Ind., he, not being able to join his company any more, returned home.
