Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, ed. 8-B, 1887 Bath County AMBROSE L. WRIGHT, a prominent farmer and stock-grower of Bath County, Ky., is a native of Bourbon County, Ky., and was born February 5, 1816. His father, Flemsted R. Wright, a native of Buckingham County, Va., was a carpenter by trade, who first settled in Kentucky in Bourbon County in 1811, where he followed his trade three years, when he removed to Bath County and settled on a farm near a place then known as Marshall's Post office, where he spent the remainder of his days; he married Cynthia Sharpe, a native of Cumberland County, Va., who bore him nine children, viz: Harriet, Catherine, Ambrose L., Elizabeth, William (deceased), Ann, Nancy, Benjamin and James A. The parents were consistent members of the Reform Church, and both died in Bath County at the advanced age of eighty seven. William Wright, grandfather of Ambrose L., was a native and resident of Buckingham County, VA., where he died. Ambrose L. Wright was reared on the farm, and when two years of age moved with his parents to Bath County, of which county he has since been a resident. He was educated in the common schools. July 16, 1839, he married Catherine Moose, of Bathe County, daughter of William and Dolly (Smith) Moose, natives, respectively, of Virginia and Kentucky. Six children blessed their union, viz: William M., Elizabeth (deceased), Caroline (deceased), Margaret, Mary Bell and Benjamin T. In the spring of 1840 Mr. Wright began farming for himself, and now owns 1,000 acres of well improved land, which he successfully manages. He was formerly a Whig, but is now a Democrat, and has served as deputy sheriff. Mrs. Wright is a member of the Reform Church.
