EVANS, a well-to-do farmer of Bath County, Ky., was born in that county, April 19, 1838, and is a son of D.D. and Allie (Patrick) Evans. D.D. Evans, a native of Virginia, was an enterprising farmer who devoted the whole of his life to agricultural pursuits; he died October 21, 1882, having been a member of the Methodist Church for many years before his death. He was a son of Thomas Evans. S.W. Evans was reared on a farm in his native county and educated in the common schools. Like his father he has always engaged in farming and stock-trading. May 31, 1866, he married Miss Mary E. Harding, of Bath County, Ky., who bore him four children, viz: Oscar E., Daniel D., Lewis C. and Morris. Mrs. Evans is a member of the Methodist Church. Mr. Evans owns 246 acres of land, and in politics is Democratic. He has been a member of the Methodist Church for many years, and is a liberal contributor to all church organizations.
