The Times of Long Ago, Barren County, Kentucky. By Franklin Gorin. John P. Morton & Company Incorporated, 1929. Published originally in the Glasgow Weekly Times, 1870's. p. 118. We should have said more of Captain John Rodes, and his family, who lived lower down on the west side of Beaver Creek below David Warren, at the present residence of his son, Wm. G. Rodes, M. D., an excellent physician, scholar and gentleman. Capt. John Rodes, his wife, daughters, Sallie, Emily and Polly, and sons, Samuel R., James C., Waller, Granville and Williams, who were grown in early days, added much to the good society of our wilderness home. Their kindness, hospitality and social qualities made their home a pleasant retreat, and for a number of years many happy days were spent there by the youths of our pioneers. After the marriage of most of them they left for new homes. We believe Dr. Wm. G. Rodes is the only one of the family left with us. Rodes Warren = none http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kybiog/barren/rodes.j.txt
