Franklin Gorin, by his last wife, was born in Glasgow, Ky., December 27, 1854, entered the University of Nashville in 1871, but left without graduating; went to Chicago in 1872, and studied law with Gwynn Garnett, Esq., and afterward with Edward S. Isham and Robert T. Lincoln, son of Abraham Lincoln; returned to Kentucky in 1875, before he was of age; practiced a short time in Louisville, Ky., and then moved to Glasgow, where he continued his practice; was elected and served as city attorney of Glasgow four terms; was elected judge of the Glasgow City Court, in April, 1884; resigned July, 1885, because of having received the nomination by the Democratic party for the Legislature; was elected at the August election, 1885, representative in the Legislature over Hon.
