BENJAMIN F BUTTON was born October 2, 1850, in Barren County, Ky., where he grew to manhood and has since resided. He is the son of Benjamin F. Button, Sr., also a native of Barren County, who died in 1880, at the age of sixty-eight years. His father, John Button, a native of Culpeper County, Va., moved to Kentucky in 1806, and died about 1862. Benjamin F. Button, Sr., espoused in marriage Permelia A., daughter of Russell and Mary A. (Cooney) Barrick, of Barrren County. She is still living, and the mother of the following children: James P., Mary J. (Bates), John R., Benjamin F., Martha S. (deceased), George W. (deceased), Harriet A. (Shirley) and Theophilus E. B. F. Button, Sr., died in 1881, in Texas, of which State he had been a resident for nine yeaars. February 19, 1872, Benjamin F. was united in marriage with Mary E., daughter of Rev. William H. and Mildred (Anderson) Emerson, of Barren County. She was born January 9, 1853, and to them have been born Mildred P., Servius F., David R., Trigg L. and William F. Mr. Button is a farmer, owning 110 acres of fair land in a good state of cultivation. He is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, and in politics is identified with the Democratic party.
