EDWARD MURPHY is a son of Frank and Catherine Murphy, natives of Ireland, who emigrated and settled in Indiana, where Edward was born in 1841. He was educated and reared in that State, but in 1873 located in Daviess County, Ky., and engaged in distilling as employee, and subsequently worked in Louisville at the same business. In 1882 he removed to Anderson County, and engaged with Thomas B. Ripy, and at present is his distiller. Mr. Murphy is also connected with Michael L. Dowling under the firm name of Murphy & Dowling, and is engaged in the manufacture of Belle of Anderson County whisky [sic], with the plant located on the Kentucky River, in the town of Dowling. Mr. Murphy married, in 1874, Miss Fannie Bailey, daughter of James Bailey of Daviess County, Ky., and has one child, Edness.
