Disciples of Church of Christ
Phillip
Slater Fall, along with the assistance of John T. Johnson and only seven
members organized the church on December 2, 1832. Until the erection of the
first church in 1842,
members
met in rented buildings or at homes of church members. The church,
one of the most magnificent buildings in Frankfort, burned in 1870. Mrs.
Emily Tubman, furnished
the
necessary means to build and furnish a new church. The second church
was rebuilt in 1872 at a cost of $26,000 and dedicated on August 11, 1872
in a ceremony performed
by Reverend
Isaac Everett.
