TACKETT, Aaron  Age 57, of Prestonsburg, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at Our Lady of the Way Hospital emergency room, in Martin, as a result of injuries sustained from a gunshot wound. Born May 19, 1946, at Mud Creek, he was the son of the late Hampton and Mirty Nunnery Tackett. He was a disabled coal miner. He is survived by his wife, Scheryl Moore Tackett. Other survivors include a son, Jason Aaron Tackett, of Prestonsburg; two daughters, Genia (Jeff) Hall, and Samantha (Ronnie) Terry, both of Richmond; four brothers, Robert Tackett, of Grethel, Jay Tackett, of Ohio, Eurie Tackett, of London, and Hazle Tackett, of West Virginia; a sister, Beatrice Tackett, of Grethel; and four grandchildren, Billy Aaron Hall, Staci Hall, Siera Hall, and Justin Bailey Terry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Azzle Tackett, and three sisters, Sylvia Tackett, Ossie Paige, and Jettie Tackett. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, July 4, at the Church of God of Prophecy, at Hi Hat, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin. Tom Nelson officiated. She is survived by her husband, Ricky Lynn Tackett. TACKETT, Audrey   Age, 78, of Prestonsburg, formerly of Melvin, died Saturday, October 14, 2006, at her residence. Born December 29, 1927, in Weeksbury, she was the daughter of the late Monroe and Darcus Hall Newsom. She was a homemaker and a member of Behold The Lamb Christian Center, in Allen. She is survived by her husband, Lester Tackett. Other survivors include two daughters: Sandra Tackett of Elsmere, and Gina Tackett of Prestonsburg; a grandson raised as a son, Shaphan Nathaniel Tackett of Price; two sisters: Grace Hall of Ashboro, North Carolina and Hazel Gilliam of Frankfort; two grandchildren: Shaphan N. Tackett and Tanesha Blankenship Carson and a great-grandchild, Kaili Victoria Tackett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Haley Hensley; and a grandson, Ty Blankenship. Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 17, at 1 p.m., at the Joppa Old Regular Baptist Church, in Melvin, with Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating. Burial was in the Hensley Cemetery at Melvin, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin. Berry Tackett, 61, of McDowell, died Saturday, April 20, 1996, at the McDowell Appalachian Regional Hospital at McDowell. Born August 30, 1934 in Beaver, he was the son of Jim Tackett and Hannah Jones Tackett of Hi Hat. He was a retired roofing contractor in Michigan. In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sons, Scotty Huffman of Columbus, Ohio, Barry James Tackett and Timothy Allen Tackett, both of River Rouge, Michigan; three daughters, Gail Ann Gauthier and Beth Ann Tackett, both of River Rouge Michigan; Sheila Lynn Adkins; three brothers, Curt Tackett of Hi Hat, Danny Tackett of Beaver, and Donald Ray Tackett; six sisters, Gladys Tackett and Geraldine Petty, both of Melvin, Gladies Slone of Hi Hat, Irene Lee of Ligon, Martha Mae Nobitty of Martin, Ethel Faye Johnson of Big Rock Michigan; and five grandchildren. Born on February 15, 1905, in Floyd County, he was the son of the late William Basel and Rhoda White Tackett. He was a retired coal miner, a member of U.M.W.A., at McDowell and was a member of the Little Rosa Old Regular Baptist Church, New Salem Association. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene "Renie" Hamilton Tackett. Survivors include two sons, Harold Tackett and Billy Tackett, both of McDowell; five daughters, Ruby Bailey Smith of Pippa Passes, Ethel Meade of McDowell, Ivalee Brown of Columbus, Ohio, Glenda Quals of Paintsville, Birdie Tuttle of Prestonsburg; 21 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. She was survived by her two sons, Edgel Tackett of Pikeville, Virgil Tackett of Cincinnati, two daughters, Arizon Kiser of Lancaster, Ohio, Lenna Newsome of Fort Clinton, Ohio, and one sister Oma Hamilton of Ashville, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Tackett; father-William Bartley; mother-Rebecca Newsome; and three brothers, Amos Bartley, Cecil Bartley and Clement Bartley. She was born in Floyd County, November 21, 1955, the daughter of the late David and Delphia Blankenship Gayheart. She was employed by Community Trust Bank at Pikeville. She is survived by her husband, Rance Tackett, of Turkey Pen. Other survivors include two brothers, Hillard Gayheart of Stroh, Indiana, and Kenneth Gayheart of McDowell; two sisters, Sharon Reynolds of Turkey Pen, and Gerlie Tackett of Hi Hat; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Roger, General, and Andy Gayheart; and one sister, Euline Gayheart. Funeral services were conducted Monday, January 12, at 11 a.m., at the Enterprise Old Regular Baptist Church, at Indian Creek, with James Tackett, Monroe Jones, and others, officiating. TACKETT, Carl Edward  Age 71, of Gahanna, Ohio, formerly of Ligon, Ky., died Sunday, August 26, 2001, at his residence. He is survived by his wife, Ethel Tackett. Other survivors include one son, Dean (Cindy) Tackett; one daughter, Robn (Tom) Caminiti; brothers and sisters, Roy (Gladys), Pearl, Jim, Hiram, Dorph (Lorena), JoAnn (Willie), Gorman (Ann), James (Joan); sisters-in-law Ruth, Carol (Darold), Cheryl (Jerry), Phyllis and Judy; grandchildren, Shane, Carlie (Steve), Kyle and Ryan; great grandchildren, Kylee, Kennedy, Devon, McKennah, Cameron, and Chase; adopted granddaughter, Kate; many nieces and nephews. He retired from Columbus Coated Fabrics in March 1992, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. His biggest enjoyments in life were his grand and great-grandchildren who were very special to him. He was their No. 1 sports fan. He also enjoyed his old timers bowling league and retirement club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Garnet Tackett; brothers, Clyde and Sterlin; and by in-laws, Vanis and Arie Caudill. He is survived by his spouse, Eulavene Akers Tackett. He was an Old Regular Baptist preacher and a carpenter, and was the pastor of Little Pilgrim Rock Old Regular Baptist Church, in Waynesburg. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Charles Dean Tackett of Paintsville; two daughters: Joan Compton of Stanford, and Debbie Keathley of Danville; two brothers: James Tackett of Moreland, and Grant Tackett of Waynesburg; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. She was born April 27, 1933, in Buckingham, the daughter of the late Bill Goble Hall and Alice Hall. She was a homemaker and a 30-year volunteer for the Right to Life Foundation.  Survivors include four daughters: Marcy Sheers, Charlotte Tackett, Wanda (Rod) Hamilton, and Wilma (Al) Caniglia; 11 grandchildren: Michael, Sabrina, Billy, Petie, Amy, Julie, Bryan, Nicky, Alison, Roddy and Richie; nine great-grandchildren: Mikey, John, Elizabeth, Michael, Samantha, Bryan, Colin, Randy and Caitlin; and a sister, Glayds. He was born October 21, 1926, in McDowell, the son of the late Marvin Tackett and Frances Bentley Tackett. He was a Millwright for the Millwright Union, a World War II Army veteran, a Kentucky Colonel, and a member of the Clearcreek United Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Ruth; one son, Randy Dale Tackett of Franklin, Ohio; one daughter, Sharon K. Murry of Phoenix, Arizona; one sister, Bessie Jean Sharp of Miamisburg, Ohio; four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Survivors include three sons, Don R. Tackett of Louisville, Richard K. Tackett of Portland, Oregon, and Timothy S. Tackett of Virgie; two daughters, Sharon K. Robinson of Shelbiana, Mary E. Hall of Virgie; two sisters, Marie Akers of Wayne, Michigan, Pebble Hall of Redding, California; and 11 grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, October 1, at 2 p.m., at the R.S. She was born November 10, 1917, in Teaberry, and was the daughter of the late Monroe Newsome and Pricy Hamilton Newsome. She was a member of the Little Rosa Regular Baptist Church of New Salem Association, McDowell, and she was a homemaker. Survivors include three daughters, Shirleen Elliott and Vivani Akers, both of McDowell, Thelma Dye of Price; five brothers, Reo Newsome and Leo Newsome, both of Ft. She was born April 27, 1925, in Estill, a daughter of the late Jocephus and Hazel Haliday Roop VanHoose. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Survivors include two sons: Dwayne Douglas Tackett of Martin, and Jack David Tackett, and his wife Sherry of Dana; and two grandsons: Jeremy Douglas Tackett and Nicholas David Tackett. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Denzil Vanhoose; and one sister, Ethylene Sammons. He worked out of laborers local #1445 Catlettsburg, for more than 30 years. He was a construction worker. He is survived by his wife, Elsa Holland Tackett. TACKETT, Emitt   Age, 88, of Salyersville, formerly of Ivel, died Sunday, December 17, 2006, at the Salyersville Health Care.  Born April 25, 1918, in Grethel, he was the son of the late John and Magaret Tackett Hamilto(FCT'S 12-20-2006)n. J.C. was born in pike county July 6 1930 and departed this life of pain April 15, 2000 making his life 69 years and 0 months. he is survived by his wife of 49 years, 2 kids, 7 grandkids,3 great grandkids ,3 step grandkids. 1 brother, and 6 sisters. Born on November 7, 1930, in Floyd County, he was the son of the late John Melvin Tackett and Mellie Elswick Tackett. He was a retired coal miner, a member of the Joppa Old Regular Baptist Church, and a member of the U.M.W.A. Local #5899 at Wheelwright. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Johnson Tackett. TACKETT, James Everett  Age 88, of Allen, husband of Margarett Griffith Tackett, passed away Monday, October 27, 2003, at the Pikeville Methodist Hospital. He was born April 12, 1915, in Belfry, the son of the late Albert Tackett and Melissa Jane Dials Tackett. He was a retired restaurant owner, a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Prestonsburg, and a member of the New England Masonic Lodge, Worthington, Ohio. Survivors include his wife; one son, Theodore Thomas Tackett of Vienna, Virginia; one daughter, Caroyn Tackett Layne of Allen; five grandchildren, Thomas Blakeman, Sabrina Conn, Ellen Ellis, Mary Bourquin, and Megan Tackett; and seven great-grandchildren, Christopher, Melinda, Joshua, Emily, Luke, Jonathan, and Bryce. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Thelma Lloyd and Hazel Dyer. Born February 5. 1933, at Virgie, she was the daughter of Anel Hampton and the late Riley Hampton. She was a retired teacher and librarian at Virgie High School and was a graduate of Morehead State University. She was of the Old Regular Baptist faith. She is survived by her husband, J.E. Tackett of Virgie; a son, James R. Tackett of Virgie; a brother, Arnold Hampton of Virgie; a sister, Noretta Johnson of Jonancy; and five grandchildren.  Interment  in the Riley Hampton Cemetery.

Born on September 14, 1942, in Pike County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Grady and Virginia Younce Tackett. He was a retired CSX employee. He is survived by his wife, Priscilla Wyatt Tackett. Also surviving are one son, Timothy Tackett, and one daughter, Patricia Hunter, both of Harold, Kentucky. TACKETT, Virginia “Ditty” Burchett   Age, 82, of Prestonsburg, died Thursday, February 15, 2007, at Central Baptist Hospital. Born November 13, 1924, in Suffolk, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late John Earl Burchett and Irvy Jones Burchett. She was a former receptionist for the City of Prestonsburg, a member of the First United Methodist Church, and a member of the Prestonsburg Woman’s Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmond Hershell Tackett, who died December 29, 1975. Survivors include a son, Dr. Carl E. “Chuck” Tackett (Susie) of Prestonsburg; a brother, John Burchett of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister, Jane Wommack of Suffolk, Virginia; six grandchildren: Jane Turk, Joe Marshall, Carter Beasley, Sarah Tackett, Seth Tackett, and Amy Tackett; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Paul Carter Tackett, on March 5, 1996. TAYLOR, Alvin Marshall ,   Known to family and friends as “Butch,” resided in Olive Hill. On June 13, 2008, at the age of 51, he passed from this life, suddenly and unexpectedly. He was born in Prestonsburg, on November 15, 1956, the son of Roberta Marshall Taylor, and the late Alvin Taylor. As a child he played baseball and loved horses. He was a graduate of Prestonsburg High School. After graduation, he began his career as a mechanic at Ken Isaacs Auto Sales, and later became a heavy equipment operator for the Branham and Baker Coal Company. At the time of his death, he was employed by Joshua Enterprises Coal Company. He had a love for hunting, fishing, and working on race cars. He was fun loving, free spirited, and a very loyal friend, who had a smile and a laugh when you encountered him. He is survived by one daughter, Brittany Keela Taylor of Huntington, West Virginia; his mother, Roberta M. Taylor of Prestonsburg; three sisters: Patty Greer of Findlay, Ohio; Judith Childers of Allen; and Emma Lou Martin of Prestonsburg; nieces, nephews, and many family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Taylor of Prestonsburg. His funeral was conducted on Monday, June 16, at 2:00 p.m., at the Hall Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, under the direction of Dr. French B. Harmon, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Somerset. She was born March 27, 1937, in Harold, Kentucky, daughter of the late Ransome and Carmie (Castle) Blevins. She grew up in Harold, Ky., and had lived in the New London and Norwalk areas from 1960 until 1974, when she moved to Merritt Island, Florida. She moved back to Norwalk in 2000. She attended the Baptist Church. Mrs. Taylor had been a volunteer at a nursing home in Florida for more than 10 years. She was a homemaker. She is survived by five daughters and sons-in-law, Zina Castle-Roberts and Don Roberts of Norwalk; Glenda and Ted Mason of Monroeville; Gletha and Clyde Sitz of Leeds, Alabama; Lorna Waldrup of Milan; and Sonya and John Verschoor of Cocoa, Florida; a son, Bradley Case of Norwalk; six brothers, Daniel Blevins of Clyde; Glen Blevins of Grundy, Virginia; Clyde Blevins of Harold, Kentucky; Terry Blevins of Jacksonville, Florida; Larry Blevins of Pennsylvania; and Chris Blevins of Georgia; two sisters, Nina Howell of Harold, Kentucky, and Lou Elkins of Crescent City, Florida; 16 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Case; her second husband, Jack Taylor; a son, Earl Eugene Case in 1994; a grandson, Joseph Sitz; a brother, James Blevins; and a son-in-law, Donald Castle. TAYLOR, George Jennings   Died this morning at 4 o'clock at the home of J. H. Garrison, one mile south of Bloomington. He was 69 years old and the father of 10 children, seven of whom still survive. He was born in Floyd county, Ky., and moved to Indiana in 1934. He had been a resident of Monroe county for 60 years. He was a private of Co. B. 4th regiment, Indiana volunteers, in the Mexican war and served till the close of the war. After the war he moved to Ellettsville, where for years he was a trusted employee of Matthews Bros. For the past ten years he has lived in Bloomington. He has been a member of the M. E. church since boyhood and died in the faith.

THOMAS, Emma Alice   (Better known as Alice Thomas), died Wednesday, April 25, 2007.Born August 2, 1918, in Prestonsburg, she was the daughter of the late Mont and Sarah Shepherd Collins. She attended the Prestonsburg Grade School, and graduated from Prestonsburg High School. She graduated from Huntington, West Virginia, School of Business, and then served in the U.S. Navy for three years.Alice married Gerald Lyle Thomas (affectionately known as Jerry Thomas), February 9, 1946, and moved to Kansas City, Missouri. They attended college together under the “G.I. Bill” and graduated June 1950, from the University of Kansas. Alice worked 11 years for McDowell Tire Company as an accountant, and 23 years as office manager and assistant secretary of the Public School Retirement System of the School District of Kansas City, Missouri. She was a member of the Overland Park Presbyterian Church, Beatrice Chapter No. 450 Order of the Eastern Star, a life member of the American Legion No. 370, a life member of WAVES National, AARP, and the Shepherd Center of Shawnee Mission. She was preceded in death by her husband, her father, mother, and brother. There are no close survivors. THOMPSON, Paul Ward  Age, 90, of Wheelwright, died on Thursday, January 18, 2001. He was born at Stark in Elliott County, on October 26, 1910. He served in the Merchant Marines prior to World War II and served in the South Pacific during World War II. Subsequent to his military service, he began a career in the retail grocery business and successfully managed and owned several stores prior to his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Ura Bane Hunt Thompson of Wheelwright. She was a registered nurse and operating room supervisor at McDowell Appalachian Regional Hospital. TODD, Minnie E.  Minnie E. Todd, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2002, at the age of 88. She was born in Prestonsburg, Ky., and has lived in the Akron-Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, area for 62 years. Preceding her in death was her husband, Lawrence H. Todd, in 1982. Mrs. Todd was a graduate of Masonic Home in Louisville, Ky., where she received the Hiram Bassett award for academic excellence. She was retired from the BF Goodman Co., and was a member of the local chapter of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence H. Todd and Louise of Marietta, Ga.; grandchildren, Michael L. (Kimberly) Todd, Patricia (Gray) Sheppard, Jeffrey Todd, and Catherine (James) Meyers. There are four great-grandchildren, Lara, Aryn, Katie, and Shane, all of whom live in the Marietta, Ga., area. She passed away October 14, 2006, at her home in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gail E. Towslee of Columbus, Ohio; her parents George and Offie Bailey of Betsy Layne; her twin sister, Bernice Bailey; and a brother, Fred Bailey, of Betsy Layne. Clarisse is survived by her companion, Sherman Craig; two children: Laura Hadfield and Michael Towslee of Madison, Indiana; two grandchildren: Joseph and Hailey; two brothers: Ishmael (Bonnie) Bailey of Harold, and Neil Bailey (Mary) of Prestonsburg; three sisters: Aquila Layne (Ronnie) and Deborah Bailey, both of Marion, Ohio, and Mona Mitchell (Tex) of Harold; a sister-in-law, Ronnie Sue Bailey of Lexington; and many nieces and nephews. Mommy was born September 26, 1930 to Simon Hunter and Alice Moore Hunter. On February 3, 1951 she married Elva Triplett. Mommy and Daddy raised 4 Children, Terry Wayne Triplett of Garrett, Kentucky, Michael Triplett of Angola, Indiana, Erma Caudill of Georgetown, Kentucky and Katherin Ann Triplett of Georgetown , Kentucky. Time nor space will allow me to tell what a wonderful person our mother was. Everyone who knew her loved her and many people have told us how much they envied us having a mother like her. We have no bad memories of mommy, only good ones. She loved all of her children equally and unconditionally and taught us to love in the same manner. I was fortunate enough to have spent more time with mommy than my sister and brothers and I feel I lost my best friend as well as my mother. Mommy and daddy have 9 Grandchildren, 2 step-Grandchildren and 4 Great-Grandchildren who mourn her as greatly as her own children. She was a very special grandmother, never to tired to get down in the floor to play with them or listen to their problems. I do belive they loved mommy as much as they loved their own mothers. Our home was always a happy place to gather because mommy always turned everything into a good time. On March 9, 1994 our home fell silent, never to be the same again. It is hard to belive how losing her could change so many lives. Sometimes it feel too unbearable to go on. TRIPLETT, Elva   was born on March 7th, 1926 and died on March 25th 2004 at 8:00am in the Hazard ARH Hospital at the age of 78 years and 18 days. Elva was the son of the late Frank Triplett and Eva Wicker Triplett. He Married Audrey Hunter on February 3, 1951 and to this union was born 4 children. Terry Wayne Triplett of Garrett Kentucky, Michael Triplett of Kendallville Indiana, Erma Jean Caudill of Georgetown Kentucky and Kathy Ann Whitlock of Georgetown Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years Audrey, 2 brothers Kelly Triplett and Jimmy Triplett. He is survived by his 4 Children Terry, Michael, Erma and Kathy, 4 Brothers Carson Triplett, Kennel Triplett, Okie Triplett and Harrison Triplett, Three sisters, Victoria Gasper, Sue Gorse and Minnie Davis, 12 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren. Elva served in the Army from 1950 to 1952 in Washington D.C. where he was part of the Honor Guard for President Harry Truman. A fact that he was very proud of and spoke of often. After his discharge from the Army he went to Newport News Virginia and got a job as a welder in the Shipyard. He worked there for about 14 years until he decided to come home to Knott County and build a home and raise his Family. He worked as a coal miner until 1976 when he became disabled to work due to Black Lung and was told to quit. In 1979 Dr. Grady Stumbo told Dad that he had lung cancer and that he needed to go to Lexington to see a lung specialist for a second opinion. Dad went to Lexington and after being x-rayed by the Doctor was told to report back to his doctor for the results. When he went back to Dr. Stumbo he was told that he had a tumor about the size of an orange on his lung and that both Doctors agreed that he was terminal and only had about 6 weeks to live. The Bible says, " if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you." Dad went to Elder Burton Howard, of the Old Regular Baptist faith, and ask Burt to "Lay Hands on him" and Burt did. A short time later Dad went back to Dr. Stumbo and said "Take another picture" and Dr. Stumbo said "Elva, there's no need, it's not going to get better" and Dad said "I went and had Burt Howard lay hands on me and I'm cured" He didn't say I think I'm cured he said I'm cured. Dr. Stumbo said he sounded so convinced that he did the X-ray, and found that the tumor that was there only a couple of weeks ago was gone. No scar no trace. Dr. Stumbo still carries those x-rays around with him. He told us that every Doctors convention he goes to he shows those x-rays he said as many as a thousand Doctors have seen them and they all say the same thing, "it's not possible, it must be two different men" Dr. Stumbo said if he hadn't taken the x-rays himself he wouldn't believe it either. God gave dad 25 years for some purpose I don't know what, maybe so that Dr. Stumbo could carry those x-rays around and show what faith can do, I don't know? I know that dad was a changed man. About a month before Dad died Reverend Bud Wicker came to the hospital to see dad and to talk to him. Bud told dad that he had to ask God to forgive his sins if he wanted to go to Heaven and dad said he knew that. Two weeks ago on Saturday Dads brother Carson and I ask dad if he had ask God to forgive his sins and He told us that he had. Dad was never baptized in water but I believe he did get what he needed to get to Heaven. Dad was a humble man and always gave good counsel to his children, his brothers, and his sisters. Turner, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at Our Lady of The Way Hospital, in Martin.  She was born March 27, 1940, in Knott County, the daughter of the late Bee Handshoe and Eliza Crager Handshoe. TURNER, Bill T.  Age 61, of Gratis Township, Ohio, in Preble County, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2002, at 3 p.m., at his residence, following a brief battle with cancer. He was born April 18, 1941, in Wayland, the son of Pauline Turner of Wayland, and the late Freddie Turner, and had lived in Ohio since 1964. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a roller in the Hot Strip Mill at A K Steel, retiring in 2001, after 36 years of service. He was a member of the Monroe First Church of God, and Loyal Order of The Moose #501 of Middletown. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by an uncle, Charles “Bubby” Turner. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 37 years, Kathryn “Kitty” Turner; two daughters, Amy Froment, and husband, John Froment of West Alexandria, Ohio; Allison Campbell, and husband, Pastor Greg Campbell of Middletown, Ohio; six grandchildren, Clayton, Emily, Leslie, Luke, Lily and Turner; special aunt, Lottie “Sissy” Turner of Wayland; and several other aunts and uncles. TURNER, Elizabeth Laven Age, 85, of Lexington, died Monday, July 10, 2000, at her residence. Born on August 5, 1912, in Floyd County, she was the daughter of the late John Patrick and Mary Susan May Laven. She was a retired Floyd County school teacher, where she taught for 32 years, many of which were in a one-room schoolhouse. She had also been active with the Headstart Program. She received her BS degree from Pikeville College and was a member of Southside Church of Christ. Her husband, Raymond B. Turner, preceded her in death. Survivors include a nephew, Patrick Hunter of Wyandotte: Michigan; and a niece, Flora S. Barthelmes of Troy, Michigan. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, July 15, at 11 a.m., at W.R. Milward Mortuary Southland, with Rev. Ken Neller officiating. Entombment will be in the Lexington Mausoleum.

TUNER, Evelyn Preston  Age, 85, of Lexington, died Monday, April 29, 2002, at St. Joseph Hospital. The widow of Andrew Jackson Turner, she was born in Floyd County, Ky., the daughter of James Milton and Mel Vina Sparks Preston. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and Noble Grand of Iaeger Rebekah Lodge No. 66. Her daughter, Carol Lester of Lexington; sons, Andrew Jackson Turner of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Maurice Turner of Paris, Kentucky; and special niece, Patty Jones Williams of Owingsville, Ky., survive her. A brother, John Preston of Greenville, Tennessee, and sister, Mary Elizabeth Mullins of Benton, Illinois, also survive. She has five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Hall Funeral Home in Martin, at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, May 2. Alley Lodge, Wayland, 32nd Scottish Rite, 62year member of the Masonic Order, and a lifetime. member of the Wayland DAV. He is survived by his wife, Dora Stewart Turner; one son, John Morgan Turner II of Gallipolis, Ohio; and one brother, Tramble Turner of Allen. TUSSEY, Frank   Age, 78, of Prestonsburg, passed away, Thursday, October 2, 2003, at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital, Ashland, after an extended illness. He was born November 12, 1925, at Maytown, the son of the late Green and Mollie (Harmon) Tussey. He was a retired coal miner from National Mines Inc. He was a member of the Spurlock Bible Church at Spurlock, and a member of the D.A.V. He is survived by his wife, Julia (Scutchfield) Tussey. Other survivors include two daughters, Margie Kendrick and Brenda Gray, both of Prestonsburg; one brother, Harmon Tussey, of Prestonsburg; and one granddaughter, Sherry Mitchell. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 5, at 1 p.m., at the Burke Funeral Home Chapel, at Prestonsburg, with Rev. Dan Heintzelman officiating. TUSSEY, Gregory Martin  Age, 40, of Prestonsburg, died Friday, August 6, 2004, at Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg. Born March 15, 1964, in Prestonsburg, he was the son of Vivian Johnson Tussey of Prestonsburg, and the late Martin Tussey. He was a maintenance worker for Archer Park, Prestonsburg. Survivors include his sons: Kaylan Tussey, Anthony Tussey, and Dustin Tussey, all of Prestonsburg; a brother, George Tussey of Prestonsburg; and a special friend, Catherine Neely of Blue River. Funeral services were conducted Monday, August 9, at 1 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, at Martin, with Van West, Jim Smith, and Larry Adams officiating. TUTTLE, Adrian  Age, 72, died Sunday, March 17, 2002, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. He was a carpenter with Union Local 1089, retiring in 1983. He was a member of Little Flossie Old Regular Baptist Church in Kendallville. He was born on May 28, 1929, to Levi and Elzena Tuttle. He married Evelyn L. Jarrett Conrad in Ligonier on October 8, 1966. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Lora and Tom Householder of Ocala, Fla.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Mark Tuttle of Fort Wayne, Denzil and Karen Tuttle of McCordsville and David and Jeannett Tuttle of Nikiski, Alaska; a stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Debra and Bruce Williams of Cromwell; two step-sons and a stepdaughter-in-law, Donald Conrad of Carlisle, and Wayne and Peggy Conrad of Ligonier; a half brother, Aaron Tuttle of eastern Kentucky; two sisters, Kathleen Gibson of Stroh, and Mary Patrick of LaGrange; 16 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a stepson, Bobby Conrad; two brothers, Ray and Forrest Tuttle; and a half sister, Cordie Wicker. TUTTLE, Dixie Lawson Conley   Age 79 of Garrett, passed from this life on Sunday, August 13, 2006, in the Letcher Manor Nursing Home, in Whitesburg. She was born July 18, 1927, in Garrett, the daughter of the late Humbert and Anise Moore Lawson. She had been a homemaker. She is survived by one son, Larry Conley of Garrett; one daughter, Loretta Smith of Dewijaki, Michigan; three brothers: Elder Raymond Lawson of Garrett, Richard Lawson of Cyntiania, and Sonny Lawson of LaPorte, Indiana; one sister, Yvonda of LaPorte, Indiana; and three grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Orville Lawson, Earl Lawson, and Fieldry Lawson; and a sister, Barbara Hicks. Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 15, at 11:00 a.m., in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, in Martin, with Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating. TUTTLE, Elder Buck  Age, 61, of Abbott Creek, Prestonsburg, Ky., died Thursday, March 21, 2002, following an extended illness. Born on September 21, 1940, at Wayland, Ky., he was the son of the late Henry Tuttle and Daisy King Tuttle Freeze. He was a retired welder. He had been a member and Elder of Bethel Old Regular Baptist Church, Maytown, Ky., for 37 years. He is survived by his wife, Birdie Sue Tackett Tuttle. Survivors include two sons, Randy (Beverly) Tuttle of Willard, Ohio, and Danny (Jennifer) Tuttle of Berea, Ky.; three brothers, Ellis Tuttle and Holly Tuttle, both of Willard, Ohio, and Wayne Tuttle of Plymouth, Ohio; three grandchildren, Jared, Ashlee, and Ryan. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Orville Shorty Tuttle, Berton Tuttle and Carl Ray Tuttle. Survivors include his wife, Donna Jean Hopkins Tuttle; two sons, Terry Tuttle and David Tuttle both of McDowell; four brothers, Buck Tuttle of Prestonsburg, Wayne Tuttle, Holly Tuttle, Ellis Tuttle, all of Ohio; one-half sister, Lois Tuttle of Ohio; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 19, 10 a.m., at the Little Rosa Old Regular Baptist church at McDowell, with ministers of Old Regular Baptist officiating. TUTTLE, Mable Thornsberry  Age 78, of McDowell, wife of the late L.C. Tuttle, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2003, in the McDowell Appalachian Regional Hospital. She was born May 6, 1924, in Knott County, the daughter of the late Kanhawah Thornsberry and Dona Slone Thornsberry. She was a member of the Little Rosa Regular Baptist Church, at McDowell. Survivors include three daughters, Judith (Jim) Dennett of Jackson, Ohio, Bonnie Horvath and Linda (Willie) Elliott both of McDowell; two sons, Jackie (Judy) Thornsberry of McDowell, and Sammie (Theresa) Thornsberry of Garden City, Michigan; step-daughter, May Zada Hall of Georgia; five step-sons, Odis Lee (Brenda) Tuttle of Bucyrus, Ohio, Donald (Alice) Tuttle of Monroe, Michigan, Ronnie (Ethel) Tuttle of Mansfield, Ohio, Garnett (Loretta) Tuttle of Wayne, Michigan, and Gary Tuttle of Michigan; two brothers, Louis Thornsberry of Hollybush, Earl Thornsberry of Garner; 25 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren.
