October 11, December 13, 2014 meetings of The Big Sandy Chapter, Kentucky Society, Sons of the American Revolution. 9:00 A. M. Downstairs meeting room May Lodge, Jenny Wiley State Park. Breakfast buffet on your own. Meeting starts at approximately 9:30.
September, 12 - 14, 2014: May Family Reunion, Jenny Wiley State Park. All descendants of John May, those married to descendants or want to be Mays are invited to attend. To include tours of the Samuel May House, and various family cemeteries. Go to mayhouse.org for further information.
September 13 - 14, 2014 Battle of Middle Creek Reenactment sponsored by The Friends of Middle Creek, Inc. Battlefield located at the Junction of Ky. Rt 404 and KY Rt 114. Annual event utilizing the Middle Creek National Battlefield as the back drop for the reenactment of the largest and most important Civil War action in Eastern Kentucky. Water and sanitary facilities are provided in camp for three days of family-oriented living history and fun. Daily battles, ladies tea, Saturday supper, a dance and a period church service to be held. Cannon bounties and wood provided. No admission fees charged for either reenactors or vendors.
