Lewis Haller's House , Lexington, Fayette, Kentucky

LEWIS HALLER'S HOUSE

410 S. Broadway, Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky
Built 1817

"Whereas a certain Lewis Haller on Jan. 31, 1818, conveyed to Stephen Chipley a house and lot on Main Cross St., Lot No. 67, upon which Haller then resided," in trust to S. & G. Trotter "to cover notes which were secured by Mathias Shryock and Michael Gough," is the introduction to the origin of this old brick dwelling.

It was designated as the "brick house on Broadway beyond Maxwell" in various deeds of partition by the heirs of the Trotters until Wm. A. Leavy and wife, Mary Ann, heirs, sold it in 1857. It had been a "rent house" all this time.

Lewis Haller, the deed of trust on January, 1818 showed, was a tinner and coppersmith of early days.
