The old two-story red brick house here, flanked by a yard extending to the "William Williams House," was built apparently by Andrew Gilmore in 1850.

Abraham Drake, who had a "rope-walk" just west of here, bought extensively in this section. It is difficult to determine the actual "birthday" of some of these houses, as the property was sub-divided after his death. The lot where this house stands was purchased from the Drake heirs in 1843 by Richard Pindell. It was Lot No. 4, "about 138 ½ feet north-west of the intersection of the Georgetown road with Main St. and running north-west with Main St. 40 feet to the corner of the lot owned by John Estes."

Pindell sold the lot in July, 1850, to Andrew Gilmore, who bought Alex. Weigart's lot (43 feet) next east in 1854.

Gilmore still was living here in 1877, according to a deed from Dr. John W. Scott, I.W. Scott, et al.
