Beginning on the front steps of the Estill County Court House, go right onto Main Street, continue north on hwy. 89 out of Irvine, turn right onto Rd. # 1705 – White Oak Road. Continue on White Oak Road until you come to the White Oak Church on the left. Pass the church and then turn right onto McDowell Cemetery Ln. Slowly, follow the road up the hill to the McDowell Cemetery.

The oldest marked grave in the cemetery is that of Samuel McDowell, his wife Elizabeth Wiseman McDowell and dau. Elizabeth McDowell Richardson.  Samuel died about 1849, although it is not indicated on the tombstone.  Their stone is approximately in the center of the cemetery.  

Upon entering cemetery, listing begins to the right and back row, closest to barn fence-line.
