when the "Home Guard" of Barbourville/Knox Co. (?) was
activated.  

Left: Estil Scalf, b 1916, son of James Scalf (1891) and
Nannie Mills, grandson of Richard Scalf b. 1865 and Mary Hensley.  

Right: John T. Hubbard, b. 1913 Knox Co, son of Thomas Hubbard
b 1883 Clay Co, grandson of Isaac "Ike" Hubbard b 1856 Clay Co KY.  

John's wife, Flossie Mae Shorter, was Estil Scalf's first cousin.
