1814 Jan 15 KY Clay Co. Courthouse records Daniel in list of “Minister Bonds”

23 This is interesting in that his father and father –in-law

were well known ministers but no word has been found of any

            religious involvement on Daniel’s part.

1814 Mar 2  KY, Clay Co. Union Salt Works. Birth of son, Edward Pendleton

old man Bell’s.”17  These children were his sons, Theophilus

Toulmin and Edmund Pendleton and daughters,  Maria Pacheco

Padilla and Margaret. It is possible that all of his children

were educated. The family interest in education is clearly

established. The 2 brothers, sent to the school mentioned above,

were later sent to board at a teacher’s home some distance away.

            Winters Price.2

1825        KY, State Senator Daniel Garrard of Knox, Harlan, Clay, Perry

and Whitley counties .Introduced a bill entitled “An act to

establish the county of Laurel.” Apparently the creation of this

county was a political hot spot and secrecy surrounded its

passage.  It  was passed and one of its first appointed

commissioners was  Daniel's son in law, Gabriel W. PRICE who had

married Daniel’s oldest child, Eliza Ann, some months previous.

1827 Dec 28 KY Clay Co. Union Salt Works. Birth of dau. Lucinda C.[or F.]

            GARRARD.2,24

Several sources have confused this Lucinda, Daniel’s daughter,

            with T.T.’s daughter, Lucinda, b. 1835/36 who is Daniel’s

granddaughter.  It is thought that the grandaughter was living

with her grandfather in 1850 while her father, T.T. was in CA

for the gold rush.  Those in error include James Welch 1850

Census, and Early  Families Eastern KY by William Kozee.

1835 Mar 2  KY, Clay Co. Appt. guardian of Lyna and Elizabeth McRoberts. No

parents given. Theophilus Garrard also signed bond.  It is

unknown how this family relates to the Garrards.30 If these are

children of Thomas McRoberts,  it is unknown who has cared for

them in the 5 years since his death.  It is thought that

guardian means financial responsibility rather than physical

            care.

1836 Dec 22 KY Clay Co. In 2 transactions, for a total of $1000, received

1050 acres from Zachariah and Jesse Morgan.9

amendment: death of son James and the western move of son,

Chase, OH on 10 Oct 1862. and died somewhere during war.26,27,28,

29 It is curious that Daniel, a Confederate sympathizer, didn’t

take action to have Robert designated an exchange prisoner or,

at least, return the body to KY.  Daniel Price’s death and

            burial have not been determined.

“Daniel Garrard was a skeptic, though a moral man and a good

            Garrard’s wife.]”17
