CCH&GS Plans a “ Walk in Old Town ” and Open House
in Conjunction with Downtown Alexandria Businesses

Mark your calendars and come join us on Saturday, September 30th from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
for an old- fashioned walk down Alexandria’s Main Street and an Open House at CCH&GS!

About a dozen small businesses and the Campbell County Historical & Genealogical Society will all be open for a special day of shopping and history on Sat., Sept. 30. All of the stores and merchants are locally owned and/or operated small businesses that line the streets surrounding the historic 1840 Campbell County Courthouse. Participating businesses and organizations will be featuring sidewalk sales, displays and information about their establishments. CCH&GS is located on the second floor of the historic 1840 Campbell County courthouse. We have a large research library, a very interesting county history museum, a military room, reception office, medical and camera collections and lots more. All of this will be open for exploring and we’ll also greet visitors in front of the courthouse where we’ll have displays featuring some of our museum and library holdings, as well as publications and other items that we offer for sale.

Celebrate Alexandria’s old fashioned shopping experience and soak up some local history at the same time. You won’t be sorry you took the time to come visit us!

The Veterans Data Project

One of the most successful projects of the historical society has been the collection of information on Campbell County Veterans. With forms continuing to pour in, the project has already produced dozens of binders filled with data on veterans from every war. Many people have attached copies of important documents, pictures and other information relating to the veteran's service. Several other historical societies are considering duplicating the project in their area.

If you or your ancestor served in the military and also lived one or more years in Campbell County, we would like to add your information to our list of honored veterans. Please use the link below to access the Veterans form.
