Kentucky GenWeb projectDaily Times, Portsmouth, Ohio, Friday June 11, 1999 Jesse Williams, 93 Jesse James Williams, 93, died Thursday June 10, 1999 at Canal Winchester, Franklin County, Ohio. A former Portsmouth area resident, Jesse resided in Cincinnati for thirty years and retired from the Kroger Co., in that city in 1969. He retired from farming at Beaver, Pike Co., Ohio in 1990. He was born February 1, 1906, at Hickory Hollow, Big White Oak, Greenup Co., KY. His parents were Sarah Elizabeth Alice Hamm (1875- 1962, daughter of Louisa Lowder Russell and George Washington Hamm) and James Williams (1867-1913, son of Lucretia "Lucy" Cooley-Moore Puckett and Jonathan Williams. On April 12, 1927, Jesse and Grace Cloteen Floyd of St Paul, KY were married. Grace was born December 10, 1907, at Carter Co., KY, daughter of Louverna Carper and Hugh Malone Floyd. She died June 18, 1988, at Beaver; they were married 61 years. Jesse was also preceded in death by his son, Charles Malone Williams (1928-1994, of Florence, KY.) Jesse is survived by his daughter, Alice Lou Williams; daughter-in law, Betty Louise Burnside Williams of Florence, KY; and his sister, Julia Beatrice Williams Buckley Ross, age 98, of Santa Monica, CA. There were no services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of your choice. .
