Luke Wellman left this world to live in peace with his heavenly father on Friday, May 26, 2006. Luke was born July 22, 1971.

He is survived by his only son, Evan Andrew Wellman, who was the light of his life, and his parents, Harold and Sue Wellman of Grayson. He is the grandson of Faye Pope Burnett and the late Harry Pope, Emma Wellman and the late Claude Wellman.

Other survivors include his brother, Jeffrey Scott Wellman; his sisters, Erica Paige Gallion and Janie Flaugher; two nieces, Ashley Elizabeth Gallion and Brittney Hope Wellman; four nephews, David Aaron Gallion, Nathaniel Ross Gallion, Travis Scott Wellman and Jeffrey Thomas Wellman; and three great-nephews, Kobe Ashton Rice-Gallion, Kyler Ross Gallion and Spencer Aaron Gallion. Other survivors include Nancy (Harold) Carroll, Tony (Bee) Pope, Joy Gallion and Opal Wilson. An extended large family and a host of friends will savor the memories he left with us.

Luke was a boilermaker with the National Transient Lodge. He attended East Carter High School where he played football. Football remained a passion with him. He loved to fish, hunt and tell tall tales. He was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. When he was home, the yard was always full. He never met a stranger and when he made a new friend, he was a friend for always.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, May 29, 2006, at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson. Lewis Davis will officiate. He will be laid to rest in Pope-Littleton Cemetery in Fultz.

Friends may call after 6 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Mark Back, Dwayne Perry, Brit Damron, Tony Carter, Jimmy McMillan, and Rob and Rick Bishop.

Condolences may be sent to sparksfh.com.
