Pickford G. Slone (1923-2006)

Pickford G. Slone, devoted wife and mother, age 82, died May 25, 2006, at her home at 3435 Ridgeway Drive, Ashland, Ky.

Mrs. Slone, who was an angel sent from Heaven to her children, was born Aug. 28, 1923, in Olive Hill, Ky., to the late Clyde and Cecile Glover Wallace.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Slone in 1994; a son, William E. Slone; and a brother, Harold Wallace.

A homemaker, she also worked for Clayton-Lambert during World War II. She was a member of Old Orchard Church of Christ, 
was a Kentucky colonel and graduated with honors from Ashland High School.

Surviving are a son, Jeffrey P. Slone and his wife, Angela of Ashland; three daughters, Cecilia Lynne Parker and her husband, 
Francis of Chattanooga, Tenn., Cathy S. Church and her husband, Larry of Ashland, and Judy Winans of Findlay, Ohio; 
14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a special cousin, Bob Henson of Ashland; and special friends, Opal Moles, Helen Daniel and Billie A. Spradlin.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 28, 2006, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Bob Queen. 
Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 27, 2006, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Scott, Keith and Eric Parker, Jeremy and Matt Leibee, Brad and Scott Winans and Tyler Slone.
