Carmel Wayne Stevens - 1932-2007

Mr. Carmel Wayne Stevens, 75, of 1170 Eastland Drive, Olive Hill, Ky., passed away Sunday evening, Aug. 12, 2007, at his residence.

Mr. Stevens was born June 2, 1932, in Carter County, Ky., the son of the late Emmitt and Rose Knipp Stevens.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Louie Stevens, Jack Stevens and Elwood Stevens.

Mr. Stevens was a member of Mount Pleasant United Baptist Church. He retired from Kentucky State Police, where he worked for 35 years as a dispatcher. 
He also retired as a disc jockey from WGOH/WUGO, where he worked for 25 years. Before his illness caused him to step down, 
he served the city of Olive Hill for a year as mayor.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty Parsons Stevens; two sons and daughters-in-law, Russell Wayne and Melissa Stevens of Mobile, Ala., 
and Joseph Allen and Teresa Stevens of Ashland, Ky.; a brother, Kenneth “Kenny” Stevens of Olive Hill; 
two sisters and a brother-in-law, Judy and Bill Fultz of Louisville, Ky., and Chloe Barker of Dayton, Ohio; 
five grandchildren, Ashley Stevens, Savannah Stevens, Brittany Stevens, Alexis Stevens and BreAnn Stevens; 
and many family and friends who will sadly mourn his passing.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill by Elder Theodore Evans. 
Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Olive Hill.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. today, Aug. 14, 2007, and before services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Jerry Stevens, Keith Stevens, Baxter Stevens, Brandon Fultz, Jason Parsons, Jeff Barker and Jeff Roe will serve as pallbearers.
