In Memoriam

Mrs. G. H. Rabourn of Lawton passed away at her home at Lawton last Tuesday evening after an illness of some duration, at the age of 66 years. 
She had been ill for some time but with a nerve so strong and faith of the divine, she held her own so well that it was hoped for some time that 
she be as she was once, but that He had seen fit to call her home to her reward.

She leaves a family of five children, George W., and E. L. of this city; C. A. (Red) of Lawton; Mrs. Ballard Martin of Pawhuska, Oklahoma., 
and Miss Elizabeth, who is at home; besides a loving husband, she leaves three brothers, G. W. Stamper of Vanceburg, A. J. Stamper of this city 
and Marion Stamper of the Head of Grassy; five sisters, Mrs. Martha Owens of Smoky Valley; Mrs. Parthens [sic., Parthenia] Wilson, Manchester, Ohio; 
Mrs. L. N. Rabourn, Head of Grassy; Mrs. Faralene Kidwell, Mouth of Laurel; Mrs. Elizabeth McCleese of Laurel, Lewis County; 
besides a host of relatives and friends and other relatives to mourn the loss. 

It was quite a sight to be present and view the crowd at the funeral and witness the people who were gathered there to pay the last tribute to one 
of their people. The Stamper blood could be seen from many faces present, as well as the relative strength on the Rabourn side.

She was a woman dearly beloved by all who knew her, her home was a place where her neighbors often gathered to enjoy a conversation because she was 
entertaining as well as instructive in her conversation; her life was a path strewn with flowers and sunshine, not sorrow; her home instincts were strong; 
her affections for friends and kindred was tender and abiding.

The funeral was conducted at the beautiful home where she has been a wonderful helper throughout these many years on the hilltop overlooking the 
place of business at Lawton, Friday at 11:00 a. m. Thursday morning with a few short and brief remarks by Rev. Sid Jones, after which the remains 
were laid to rest in the cemetery near the home. The funeral was in charge of local undertaker Clarence W. Henderson and was well managed. 
The floral tributes were as fine as seen anywhere, and we venture to say they were so nice that remarks could be heard from along the line that they 
were as nice as seen anywhere. It was a most lovely sight to behold the lovely flowers that encircled the casket as it lay in the home.
