      Melvin Sparks, 80, of Crooksville, a self-employed timber cutter and buyer, died at 3 p.m. Friday in Good Samaritan Medical Center 
      where he had been a patient since Aug. 31. 

      He was born July 5, 1895, at Olive Hill, Ky. He moved to Crooksville area in 1934. 

      Mr. Sparks was a member of Wesleyan Union Church at McLuney. 

      Surviving are three sons, Arnold and James, both of Crooksville Route 2, Stera—of Malta Route 1; six daughters, Mrs. Georgia Edgell of Malta Route 1, 
      Mrs. Irene Jadwin of Crooksville Route 2, Mrs. Doris Houk of Crooksville Route 1, Mrs. Joan Wilson of McConnelsville Route 4, 
      Mrs Lida Ault of New Lexington and Mrs. Mary Galliway of Arlington, Ore.; 36 grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren; 
      a brother, Alex of Olive Hill; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Skaggs of Huntington, W. Va. and Mrs. Maude Skaggs of Elliotsville.
