Catherine Rice Rigsby - 1914-2007

Catherine Rice Rigsby, 92, of Ashland, Ky., died Friday, Aug. 3, 2007 in Wurtland Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, 100 Wurtland Ave., Russell, Ky.

She was born Oct. 19, 1914, in Carter County, Ky., a daughter of the late Andrew Rice and Martha Elizabeth Gullett Rice.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Estill Rigsby in 1972; one son, Billy Ray Rigsby in 2002; 
a daughter, Pauline Hanks; three stepchildren, Mona Jenkins, John Rigsby and Jay Rigsby; and one brother, Harvey Rice.

She was a housewife and a member of Oakland Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn Sue Evans of Charleston, S.C., and Alene Suttles of Baxley, Ga.; five grandchildren; 
several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and 16 stepgrandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, 2007 at Cain Creek Cemetery off Ky. 207 by the Rev. Joe Hutchinson.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007 at Lazear Funeral Home Chapel in Ashland.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
