Ottie Mays

MANSFIELD -- Ottie Mays, 72, died Friday, May 21, 2004, in MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital. 

She was born November 17, 1931, in Olive Hill, Ky., to Everett and Vada Porter. She attended Bethel Freewill Baptist Church. Ottie was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was very loved by her family and will be sadly missed. 

She is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Darrel and Reba Mays of Cleveland, Ohio, Roger Mays, Harlon and Tammy Mays, Rodney and Amy Mays, all of Mansfield; two daughters, Marlene Boggs of Mansfield and Delena Mays of Mansfield with whom Ottie shared her home with; two grandchildren she raised as her own, Shannon and Josh Worthington and Shawn and Julie Mays; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Randall Porter of Olive Hill, Ky.; three sisters, Omega and Willard Cole of Mansfield, Marietta Beecham of Mansfield and Nettie Catron of Niles, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Woodrow Barricks, Norman Porter, and Willard Porter; and twin sisters, Nellie and Shirley Porter. 

The family will receive friends Monday, May 24, 2004, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 25 at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Herman Copley. Burial will be at the Franklin Church Road Cemetery.
