Donetta Evans (1948-2006)

Donetta Jane Perry Evans, 57, of Olive Hill, Ky., passed peacefully from this life, Thursday evening, July 6, 2006, in the Kingsbrook Life Care Center in Ashland, Ky.

Mrs. Evans was born in Kenova, W.Va., on Dec. 27, 1948, the daughter of Jeanetta Preece Church and stepfather, Harold Church of Ashland, the late Donald Perry and the late Neely Preece. 

After rearing her four children, she returned to college graduating with a B.A. in community social work from MSU (dean?s list) and was employed with the Rowan County School System. She was also a member of the Twin Fork Church in Catlettsburg, Ky. 

She is survived by her husband, John A. Evans; her two daughters, Melissa Scott of Flatwoods, Ky., and Jessica Borders Cooper and her husband, Andrew of Morehead, Ky.; her two sons, Timothy A. Scott of Ashland, and Eugene Gollihue Jr. of Greenup, Ky.; two brothers, Benny Preece of Catlettsburg and Donald Ray Perry Jr. of Louisa, Ky.; three sisters, Mary Ann Thompson of Ashland, Margaret Blanton of Catlettsburg and Peggy Wright of Lexington, Ky.; and a special friend, Beverly Shaffer of Flatwoods. She was blessed with one granddaughter, Alexis Katherine Scott of Ashland. 

In addition to her father, Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Thompson. 

A funeral ceremony in memory of Donetta Evans will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 9, 2006, at the Twin Fork Nazarene Church in Catlettsburg. The Rev. Frank Hulett will offer words of comfort to those in attendance. She will be laid to rest in the Bayless family cemetery following the service. 

Visitation for family and friends is tonight, July 8, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg.
