John Tivis Owens, 50, of 410 Empire Rd., a resident of Mansfield of the Westinghouse Electric Corp. for 14 years, 
died at Madison Hospital about 3:30 a.m. today following an illness of several months. 

Mr. Owens was born at Emerson, Ky., on Oct. 17, 1908. Survivors include his wife, Ella Worthington Owens; two daughters, Margaret and Nellie Owens; 
two brothers, Homer Owens of Mansfield and Eartis (?) Owens of Smokey Valley, Ky.; and a sister, Mrs Tinia Abraham of Bennington, Kan. 

In accordance with the wish of the deceased, funeral services will be held from the family home at 7:30 Wednesday evening 
in charge of the Rev. Clifford Litteral, pastor of the Free Will Baptist Church. 

Early Thursday morning the body will be taken to Smokey Valley, Ky., where additional funeral services will be conducted at the chapel 
in the Owens Cemetery at 2 p. m., also in charge of Rev. Litteral. Burial will be in Owens Cemetery. 

Funeral arrangements are in charge of the Jones Memorial. 



(Note by DKT: Everman, Ky. is in Lewis County, just across the line from Carter County. The 1910 and 1920 census records state that 
John Tivis Owens is the son of Amos Owens.)
