Earl Nolen


Earl Nolen, age 82, of Cambridge City, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2006, at his residence after an extended illness. 

He was born on July 27, 1926, in Olive Hill, Ky., to William Isaac and Lucy Stevens Nolen and had lived in Knightstown, Ind., before moving to Cambridge City in 1970. 
  
He had worked at Ford Motor Corporation and Visteon in Connersville, Ind., as a supervisor. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a member of Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Lawrence H. Bertsch American Legion Post #169 in Cambridge City. 

Survivors are four children, Brenda Thompson of Cambridge City, Ind., Sue Shepherd of Greenfield, Ind., Chad Nolen Sr. of Sidney, Ohio, and Sherri Wolford of Columbus, Ohio; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; one sister, Ada Jones of Knightstown, Ind.; four half sisters, Kathleen, Reithl, Bernice and Floris; one half brother, Carl; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother, Laura Nolen, one son, Stephen Earl Nolen, and eight brothers and sisters. 

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2006, at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City with Randy Gross officiating. Burial will be in Nolen Cemetery in Olive Hill, Ky. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006.
