Kentucky GenWeb projectMabel D. Collins 1910-2004 Mabel D. Collins, age 93, of Ashland, Ky., died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, in Boyd Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ashland. Mrs. Collins was born July 23, 1910, in Rush, Ky., a daughter of the late William and Carrie Clark Moore. A homemaker, she attended the Gospel Tabernacle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George R. Collins; a daughter, Monna Jean Collins; four brothers, Earcel E. Sr., Carl W., Marvin and Stanley Moore; and a sister, Leotha Goodwin. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Robert Vanderpool of Ashland; a grandson, Matthew and his wife, Sarah Vanderpool of Louisville, Ky.; two stepgrandsons, Shannon and Christopher Vanderpool and their families, all of Lexington, Ky.; two sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews; and was greatly anticipating the birth of her first great-grandchild. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 2004, at Lazear Funeral Home Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Acy Gibson and the Rev. Owen Miller. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland. Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight, May 14, 2004, at the funeral home.
