Beatrice Lewis

1911-2007

MOREHEAD - Beatrice McGlone Lewis, age 95, of Big Brushy Road, Morehead, passed away Wednesday, 
January 10, 2007, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. 

Born December 2, 1911, at McGlone Creek in Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Harvey and Leah Wolford McGlone. 
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Lewis on July 22, 1988.

Mrs. Lewis is survived by one son, James Sherman Lewis and wife Linda of Loveland, Ohio; 
three daughters, Violet Hardin and husband Wilbur of Morehead, Wilma Lutz and husband Joe of Largo, Florida, and DeEtta Folse of Bellaire, Texas; 
6 grandchildren; and 7 great- grandchildren.

She was a retired postmaster of Smile, Kentucky, located on Big Brushy. She operated the post office from a building just a few steps 
from her home for nearly 30 years. 

Mrs. Lewis later served as vice- president of Rowan County Farm Bureau, and was the first female to serve in that capacity.

She was also a member of McGlone Creek Christian Church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 14, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel 
with the Rev. Brian Farmer officiating; burial will follow in the McGlone Cemetery in Carter County

Pallbearers will be Bob Lewis, Jack Lewis, Nick Schatz, John Schatz, David Schatz, and Dr. Ralph Derrickson. 

Visitation is after 6 p.m. Saturday, January 13, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Claire Cardiac Rehabilitation program.
