Barrett Layne - 1975-2007 Mr. Barrett Nelson Layne, 32, of Ky. 986, Olive Hill, Ky., passed away Monday morning, Oct. 29, 2007, at his residence. Mr. Layne was born April 19, 1975, in Boyd County, Ky., the son of Roger and Dottie Justice Layne of Olive Hill. Barrett was a 1993 graduate of West Carter High School. He enjoyed horseback riding and breaking horses to ride and work. He also loved spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Vasco and Nannie Hurley Layne; his maternal grandparents, Curtis and Blanche Ford Justice Tackett; and his stepmaternal grandfather, Elmo Tackett. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Latesha Layne of Knoxville, Tenn.; and aunts and uncles Skip and Linda Layne, Judy Rankin, Vivian Rainbolt, Joyce Irland, Linda and Wilson Maggard, Jeannie Molton and Rose Justice; and numerous cousins and friends who will sadly miss him. Funeral service will be at noon Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill by Brother Brent Duncan and Brother Gary Sparks. Burial will be in Olive Hill Memory Gardens in Olive Hill. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today and until time of services Thursday at the funeral home. Matthew Gilliam, Mike Oppenheimer, Patrick Hollingsworth, Seth Brown, Bobby McCoy, Rodney Richmond, Phillip Carter and Shelby Nichols will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Donnie Brown and Jim Barker.
