Mary Ruth Kouns Jackson (1925-2007)

Mary Ruth Kouns Jackson, 81, of Grayson, died Thursday evening, June 21, 2007, at King’s Daughters Medical Center after an extended illness.

Mary Ruth was born on Nov. 11, 1925, in Fort Thomas, Ky., the daughter of the late William Leonard Kouns Sr. and Ina Mae Callihan Kouns.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce L. Jackson, who died June 20, 1981.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Grayson, where she was church organist for many years, 
and was retired from the Kentucky Cabinet for Human Resources.

Mrs. Jackson is survived by two children, William Bruce Jackson (Liza) of Ashland and Mary Jill Bentley (Jim) of Grayson, 
who were her exceptional caregivers.

Also surviving is her brother, William L. Kouns Jr. (Dorothy) of Portsmouth; three grandchildren, Christopher Bruce Jackson (Melanie), 
Blake Bentley of Grayson and Brooke Bentley of Lexington; one great-grandchild, Kaleb Bruce Jackson of Grayson; 
and one niece, Lisa Kouns Feldner (Richard) of Lexington, Ohio.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 25, at the First Baptist Church in Grayson. Minister Terry Leap will officiate.

Friends may call after 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will follow in the East Carter County Memory Gardens. 
Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson is in charge of arrangements.
