Mrs. Wright Passes Away

Well-Known Ashland Citizen Dies Today

Mrs. Mollie Lee Wright, 61, one of Ashland’s most prominent and best known citizens, passed away early this morning at a local hospital 
where she was taken about a week ago. Mrs. Wright had been ill for several months, but her condition did not become serious until a few days ago. 

Despite the fact that her serious illness was known, her death came as a shock to her relatives and many friends.

She was the wife of Giles Wright of 520 23rd St.

Mrs. Wright was born June 13, 1971, at Deer Creek, Carter County, the daughter of the late Charles and Lauretta Kitchen.

She and Mr. Wright were married Sept. 22, 1891, at Leon, Ky. They lived in Leon and Flatwoods, W.Va. until 1900 when they moved to Ashland 
where they had resided ever since. 

Mrs. Wright leaves her husband, Giles Wright; four children, Chas. K. Wright, Mrs. C.L. Smith of Cincinnati, G.E. Wright and Mrs. Mary L. Kendall; 
five sisters, Mrs. E.L. Saulisbury of La Folette, Tennessee, Mrs. W.N. King and Mrs. J.J. MacBrayer of Lexington, Ky., 
and Mrs. Marion Clevenger and Mrs. J.E. King; three brothers, James H. Kitchen, John W. Kitchen and Charles J. Kitchen, the latter of Winter Garden, Fla., 
and five grandchildren, Giles Calvin Wright, Billy Marsh Smith, Mary Lee Smith,, Barbara Jane Smith and Billy Kendall.

Funeral service will be held from the residence Thursday afternoon at two o’clock. Rev. C.A. Slaughter, 
now of Huntington, but formerly of this city, will officiate. Burial will be in the Ashland mausoleum.
