Charles Edward Kelley 1918-2007

Charles Edward Kelley, 89, of Greenup, Ky., formerly of Ashland, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.

He was born Sept. 1, 1918, in Soldier, Ky., the son of the late Noah and Minnie France Kelley.

He was retired from Blue Ribbon Lines and Tri-State Transit and a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carrie Nolte Kelley; a sister, Stella Kelley Galliher; 
three small siblings; and two great-granddaughters, Kelli Jo and Melissa Dawn McDowell.

He is survived by his second wife of 57 years, Ethel Patton Kelley; a daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Charles V. McDowell of Ashland; 
a granddaughter, Susan Martin of Ashland; two grandsons, Michael McDowell and his wife, Marsha, and Mark McDowell and his wife, Christine, of Ashland; 
two great-granddaughters, Whitney Martin and Bethany McDowell; two great-grandsons, Jamie Martin and Brandon McDowell; 
a sister, Elizabeth Maxine Ellenberg of Ashland; a brother, James E. Kelley of Ashland; and several nieces and nephews.

Private services will be conducted on Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at Rose Hill Mausoleum by minister James Crum. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

There will be no visitation.

Miller Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Westwood Christian Baptist Church, 713 Wheatley Road, Ashland, KY 41101.
