Kentucky GenWeb projectIRENE JESSIE WHITT, 89, of South Point, Ohio, went to be with her Lord, Wednesday, September 1, 2004, at her residence. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 4, 2004, at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home with Pastor Aaron Childers officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. Irene was born July 18, 1915, in Olive Hill, Ky., a daughter of the late Robert and Stella Walker Jessie. She spent her life being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Irene was a member of Madison Avenue Christian Church with many years of faithful service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Whitt in 1992; two brothers, Ralph and Jack Jessie; two sisters, Atha Withrow and Bobbie Suttles; and two sons-in-law, Gene Lester and Myron Pauley. Irene is survived by four daughters, Sue (Lee) Ison of Franklin Furnace, Ohio, Joyce Ann Pauley, Kay (Louis) Johnson, and Donna Lester all of South Point, Ohio; one son, Jack (Martha) Whitt of Chesapeake, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Roger and Ray Jessie of Grayson, Ky., and Arvil Jessie of South Portsmouth, Ky.; two sisters, Juanita Riley of Dayton, Ohio, and Joan Lind of Upper Sandusky, Ohio; and several extended family members. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home. Should friends so desire, contributions may be made in Irene’s memory to Hospice of Huntington.
