John C. James - 1935-2006

John C. James, 71, of Ashland, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, in King’s Daughters Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 25, 1935, in Grayson, Ky., the son of the late Thomas E. and Laura Mae Brewer James. He was retired from Stars Fashion World, a member of the Ashland First Church of God and a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Monnie E. Moore James; a stepdaughter, Pamela Harris and her husband Mark of Nicholasville, Ky.; a stepson, Gregory Estep and his wife Pam of Ashland; a brother, Paul James and his wife Nancy of Sevierville, Tenn.; four stepgrandchildren, Tyler Harris and Caleb Harris of Nicholasville, Christopher Estep of Findlay, Ohio, and Heather Sellars of Ashland; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Ethan Sellars and Ella Kate Sellars of Ashland; two nieces, Debra Pate of Niceville, Fla., and Elizabeth Sego of Samson, Ala.; and a nephew, Steve James of Newland, N.C.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006, at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland by the Rev. Tom Pelt and the Rev. Gary Arrington. Burial will follow in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
