Kentucky GenWeb projectD. Alice (Hedge) Grayson, 89 DUNKIRK - D. Alice (Hedge) Grayson, 89, passed away Tuesday evening, October 16. 2007 at the United Methodist Home, Heritage Point, in Warren, Indiana after a long illness. She was a resident of Jay Co. and Dunkirk for the past 56 years, having moved to Indiana in 1951 with her husband, Ollie Winfred Grayson who died in 1991. She was born on her parent's farm in Olive Hill, KY on June 19, 1918. She was one of 13 children born to William Henry Clay Hedge and Fanny Jane Workman Hedge. Alice was generous and thoughtful sharing her great love of gardening, bird watching and cooking by entertaining with delicious meals and gifting her beautifully preserved canned goods. The rows of colorful canned vegetables once appeared in an Indiana magazine. Alice was a member of the XYZ Club and of The First Christian Church, Redkey. Alice will be sadly missed by her four surviving children, Geraldine Vickers Jones (Larry) of Harford City, Fanny Lou Shedd of Hamilton, OH, Bonnie Dee ( Arthur) of Frederick, MD., and Ollie Ray Grayson (Peggy) of Dunkirk; grandchildren, Karen Fishbough (Matthew), Aaron Huber, Jennifer Fisher (Tony), Scott Grayson (Stephanie), David Grayson (Miranda), Julie Grayson, Elizabeth Dee (Doug Wada), and Meghan Ewin (Josh); four step grandchildren, Royce Shedd, Jr., Nick and Chad Jones and Natalie Scott; 21 great-grand children; ?two sisters, Rhoda Mobley and Lucy Cooper of Cincinnati; two brothers, Russell Hedge (Margaret) of Cincinnati and Ernest Hedge of Long Beach, CA; one sister-in-law, Shirleen (Biggs) Hedge of Riverside, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie Winfred, in 1991; her daughter, Goldia (Vickers) Porter in 1998 and son-in-law, Royce Wayne Shedd. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Rosa Burton, Martha Price and Mary Lyons and five brothers, Robert, Jess, Arthur, William and James Hedge. Funeral services will be Friday, October 19, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at Redkey Christian Church with a two hour visitation prior to service. Burial will be in the Gardens of Memory, Muncie. Memorials may be directed to First Christian Church, 4 South Union Street, Redkey, IN 47373 or The Alzheimer's Association.
