Antha Gilliam 

1920-2004 

Antha M. Gilliam, 83, of Olive Hill, passed away Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. 

Mrs. Gilliam was born Feb. 8, 1920, in Carter County, a daughter of the late Jason and Martha Lawhorn Gilliam. 

She was a loving mother, homemaker, and honored a Kentucky Colonel award for her dedication and work at the 
Northeast Area Development Council where she retired. She was of the Baptist faith. 

She was preceded in death by Carl Cornell and Charles Newsom; two sons, Mike and Charles "Sweetie" Cornell; 
granddaughter, Serena Anne Gilliam; two great-grandbabies; three brothers, Charlie, Bill, and Sonny Gilliam; and one sister, Bertha E. Smith. 

She is survived by two daughters, Judy Newsom James and Shari Newsome Gilliam and husband, Chuck, all of Orlando, Fla.; 
three sons, C.E. Newsom of New Orleans, La., Fred J. Newsom and John Newsom, both of Olive Hill; a stepson, 
Charles C. Newsome and wife Mary Jane, of Security, Colo.; one sister, Opal (Kendall) Dean of Olive Hill; 
grandchildren, Chris and Chad Cornell, Gregory and Jessie James, Annie and Michael Myers, Geoffrey James, Charley and Julie Gilliam 
and Shiann Gilliam; stepgrandchildren, Vandee, Dunie, and Jo Gina Newsome; great-grandchildren, Cydnie, Taylor, Charley, 
Chase, Camryn, and McKinley Cornell, Zac, Michelle and Scott James, Micah, Malachi, and Matthew Gilliam, and two on the way; 
and stepgreat-grandchildren, Jason, Vanessa, Christa, Joseph, Amber, and Patrick. 

Funeral service will be conducted Monday, Jan. 19, 2004, at 1 p.m. at Oney-Henderson Funeral Home in Olive Hill, officiated by the Rev. Elijah Tackett. 
Burial will follow in the Fred Newsom, Sr., Cemetery at Pleasant Valley. 

Friends may call anytime today and until the service time on Monday at the funeral home.
