Roy T. Gee
1928 - 2004

Roy T. Gee, age 76, a Christian Man, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 14th, 2004 at his residence, following an extended illness.
He was born July 30th, 1928, the fifth child of Willie and Stella Whitt Gee.

Mr. Gee attended school at Cory, Upper Tygart, Olive Hill High, Patuxent River, MD., Sue Bennett College and special course in bookkeeping at Atlanta, GA., plus many Judicial Seminars through out the State of Kentucky and Tennessee.

While in high school at Olive Hill, KY, Roy worked as clerk at the Olive Hill Cutrate Grocery until he was old enough to secure a driver license at which time he drove a stone truck in his spare time.

Roy bought his own truck and ran his own store and gas station at the age of fifteen.

At the age of eighteen plus, Roy left home to seek his fortune at Mansfield, OH, working for Westinghouse Corporation for two and a half years. Rejecting the fact and thought of being a Buck Eye, Roy came home and joined Uncle Sam’s Navy and was assigned to Navy Air Force aboard the U.S.S. Wasp-CVA-18 and began to see the world, winding up in Korea for the duration of the war. Before coming home to the United States, Roy had to go to Vietnam to help evacuate the French forces.

After the service he became self-employed. First, he managed and operated Gee’s Texaco Station in Grayson, KY until 1967. Then having succumbed to the call of the road, he bought a truck and was an over the road truck driver until 1975. Roy then ran for the office of Circuit Court Clerk and served in that capacity for twenty-five years.

Roy wrote that the most wonderful happening he ever experienced, except the day he allowed God’s Saving Grace to be applied to his being, was after traveling six of seven oceans in the world and being all the way around the world once, he was on the street of Olive Hill, KY and saw a 1949 Plymouth going down the street with the most beautiful (having beauty in any of its forms; pleasing to the senses or the mind) girl he ever saw, which he married. Miss Dorothy Jean Carroll Gee who gave him a son named Robert Alan Gee. Roy also has a daughter-in-law, Karen Barnhill Gee and a grandson, Chad Alan Gee. Additional survivors include:

3 brothers, Raymond Gee of Mansfield, OH, Billy Gee of Ypsilanti, MI and Teddy Gee of Mineral Ridge, OH; 1 sister, Alice Joy Buckler of Olive Hill, KY and many nephews and nieces.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Clayton Gee and J.C. Gee and a sister, Geraldine Tackett.

He was a Christian and a member of the Pleasant Valley Church, the Carter County Gideons which he had served as a past President, a Mason with Trimble Lodge #145, a member of V.F.W., past president of the Grayson Rotary Club, a Sunday School Superintendent for 34 years, a member of Teamsters 100 of Cincinnati, OH and 505 of Huntington, WV., the American Legion and a former member of the Grayson Chamber of Commerce,

Having served as Carter County’s Friend in the Courthouse for twenty-five years, Roy was truly thankful.
