Kentucky GenWeb projectEdward Flannery Jr. - 1926-2007 Edward “Buffalo” Flannery Jr., 81, of Bruin passed away Saturday morning, Oct. 20, 2007, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. He was born Aug. 22, 1926, in Elliott County, the son of the late Ed and Ida Thornsberry Flannery. June was retired as an auto mechanic where he was employed at Dickerson’s Garage at Bruin for many years. He was of the Baptist faith and a loving father, grandfather, brother and a friend to all who knew him. He will be sadly missed by many extended family, friends and neighbors. In addition to his parents, he also is preceded in death by three brothers, Samuel Flannery, Johnny Flannery and Jack Flannery; and three sisters, Colia Evans, Elonise Ferguson and Eddie Flannery. He is survived by his loving family, four sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Trish Flannery of Sandy Hook, Larry and Ruth Flannery of Grayson, Roy and Carol Flannery of Buckhannon, W.Va., and Bruce and Jeanette Flannery of Sandy Hook; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Jim Solomon and Sheina and Dave Gordon, all of Huber Heights, Ohio; two stepdaughters and step-son-in-law, Sandra Slone of Sandy Hook and Tonya and John Murphy of Tennessee; one step-son, Charles Watt of Sandy Hook; two brothers, Virgil Flannery of Olive Hill and Orville “Dutch” Flannery of Sandy Hook; two sisters, Roxie Kerley and Dollie Martin, both of Dayton; eight grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the Waddell & Whitt Funeral Home in Sandy Hook, with Brother Ennis Lewis Jr. officiating and Brother Russell Griffith officiating. Burial will follow in the Elliott County Memory Gardens in Sandy Hook. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home, where there will be a Masonic service at 7 p.m. by the Hepburn Masonic Lodge F&AM 576 of Sandy Hook and visit anytime before the service hour on Tuesday.
