Pauline Clay Shawhan - 1929-2007

Pauline Clay Shawhan, 77, of Rush, Ky., passed from this life on Wednesday, March 15, 2007. in King’s Daughters Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 29, 1929, in Ashland, Ky., a daughter of the late Delbert and Grace Hampton Clay.

She was the former owner and operator of Shawhan’s Grocery for 40 years plus, a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star of Rush Chapter No. 546 
and a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Ashland.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Briton Shawhan in 1963; one brother, Alvis Clay; and one sister, Naomi Gillespe.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Kathy Shawhan of Kathleen, Ga., and Joe and Clella Shawhan of Winfield, W.Va.; 
one daughter, Mary Lou Parson of Grayson, Ky.; three sisters, Louise Gentry and Avaline Foster, both of Wurtland, Ky., 
and Beulah Williams of Tappahannock, Va.; one brother, Delbert Clay Jr. of Gallipolis, Ohio; 
nine grandchildren, Robert, Dana, Johnathon, Jay, David, Lia, Robert Thomas, Daniel and Rachael; 
and nine great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Leigh, Sarah, Hannah, Derick, Amanda, Shawna, Ray and Megan.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson by Robert Parsons and Paul Thomas, minister. 
Burial will be in Cribbs Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday.

The Rush Chapter of Eastern Star No. 546 will have services Monday at 8 p.m.
