Nixola Carroll Isaacs - 1918-2006

Nixola Isaacs, 88, of Hitchins, Ky., wife of the late Lee Isaacs, passed away peacefully Monday afternoon, Dec. 11, 2006, at her home surrounded by her family and friends following an extended illness.

Mrs. Isaacs was born Sept. 11, 1918, in Elliott County, Ky., a daughter of the late Oscar and Nancy Parsons Carroll. Nixola was a dedicated wife to her late husband of 62 years, Lee W. Isaacs, who passed away in 2002, and a devoted mother, grandmother and sister.

She was a member of Gregoryville Christian Holiness Church and was a homemaker.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents and husband, were three brothers, Roy Carroll, Ray Carroll and Troy Carroll; and a sister, Kathleen Carroll Grizzell.

Nixola is survived by her eight loving children, Clifton (Donna Sue) Isaacs, Nancy (Donald) Stanley and Richard (Donna Jo) Isaacs, all of Hitchins, Carl (Victoria) Isaacs of Rockport, W.Va., Phillip Isaacs of Mesa, Ariz., Walter Isaacs of Chandler, Ariz., and Glenna (Gary) Shaffer and Peggy (Dennis) Bradley of Grayson, Ky.; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ora Carroll of Grahn, Ky., and Ercel Carroll of Flatwoods, Ky.; and a sister, Christine Carroll Mosier of Olive Hill, Ky.

The children would like to express their sincere gratitude to Communtiy Hospice for the care and compassion given to their mom and to them.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006, at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson, Ky., by the Rev. Lewis Davis and the Rev. George Smith. Mrs. Isaacs’ grandsons will be pallbearers. Burial will be in East Carter County Memory Gardens.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 13, 2006, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41102.
