OBIT - George Russell Carroll, 64, of Charleston, W. Va., formerly of Lawrence 
County, died Friday in Charleston following an extended illness.     

Carroll was born Nov. 1, 1918, in Lawrence County, a son of George W. and May Lester 
Carroll. he was a member of the Baptist faith and was a veteran of World War II.     

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Beulah Lawson Carroll; a daughter, Mrs. 
Hattie Mae Carroll of Atlanta, Ga.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Caroline Howell of 
Chicago and Mrs. Betty Rhule of Atlanta; two stepsons, Delbert Owens of 
Atlanta and Earl Owens of St. Albans, W. Va.; a foster son, Earl Fraley of 
Little Rock, Ark.; four sisters, Mrs. Lucille Compton of Louisa, Mrs. Ruby 
Lawson of Grayson, Mrs. Lola Wilson of Lexington and Mrs. Hazel Shimble of 
Dallas, Texas; a brother, Willie Carroll of Logan, W. Va.; 21 grandchildren; 
and four great-grandchildren.      

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Young Funeral Home in Louisa by the Rev. Jackie Clark. Burial 
will be in Greenlawn Cemetery at Louisa. Visitation is 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

He was the grandson of Gabriel and Nancy Wallace Carroll.
